Supporting you for the journey ahead
All courses are designed to give expectant women and their partners the information and tools they need to make informed decisions relating to their pregnancy and birth experience. We empower pregnant women and their partners to communicate confidently with all health providers and prepare them for the journey ahead into parenthood.
What To Expect
Our classes are a mixture of demonstration, discussion, information providing and hands-on activities. Our aim is to equip you with all knowledge you need so that nothing is unexpected during pregnancy, labour or the early days. On top of this, our group sessions are designed to offer parents-to-be develop a support network that turns into friendship and continues long after the babies are born. Some members are currently on their seventh year of friendship.
All classes partially reimbursable. Our midwife– led prenatal classes given in English prepare the pregnant woman and her partner (attendance alone is fine too!) realistically for what is to come; we recommend that you aim to complete your education by your 36/37th week of pregnancy. No more than 8/9 couples/singles per course. Same-sex couples and single attendees warmly welcomed. ALL CLASSES ARE ONLINE via Zoom. Once restrictions permit we will resume onsite; Square Ambiorix 7, BRU 1000, first floor.
Planning and pregnancy – 40 euros per 30 mins private appointment. Individual sessions to meet your needs. Covering administrations of pregnancy, passport/nationality issues, hospital policies, reimbursements and entitlements, and creche bookings.
6-session courses – 265 euro per couple, 210 euros per single place. Weekdays 6.30-8.30pm and weekends during the day. These are run continuously throughout the year and prepare you completely for what is to come to include a breastfeeding workshop. Please do ask for a sample course plan.
Breastfeeding 2-hour workshop – included within the 6-session course, but can be taken as a stand-alone. This empowering session is the vital first-step towards understanding breastfeeding. It can sometimes be difficult to establish and good preparation is the best way to start your journey. Cost 55 euros per couple, 45 euros per single place
Survive Labour Ward -A 4-hour workshop (max 8 couples/singles). Cost 95 euros per couple, 85 euros per single place. This workshop covers; recognition of onset of labour, the labour process, techniques of coping and positions to accentuate efficiency, and birth. Led by Jo, an experienced labour-ward midwife, who takes you through this very practical workshop.
